At IVDU Girls, “success” is more than a buzzword

It means getting excited about learning again, laughing with friends between classes, and feeling at home in a school that fits just right. It means knowing you have what it takes, whether that’s learning to play a new instrument, speaking in front of a crowd, or mastering Regents exams. It means graduating with the skills, tools, and confidence to take on whatever life has in store.

At IVDU, our girls don’t just hope for success—they experience it, every single day.

"Every therapist and teacher we had has been a gem!"

Tova's* story

Tova was a medically challenged little girl and needed far more support than most schools could offer. She joined IVDU in 5th grade, and the transition turned out to be wonderful. IVDU focuses on bringing out the best in the girls and treats them like they’re in the real world, not like “special cases.” Every teacher and therapist we’ve had has been a gem.
IVDU focused a lot on communication and social skills, which was important to us. When Tova was younger, her speech was garbled and hard to understand, which made making friends difficult. She made tremendous progress in that regard. Watching her in this year’s school play doing a hilarious comedy routine was incredible. We were blown away by her progress.
There’s love and care at IVDU, but also expectations and goals. IVDU has the belief that Tova has tremendous abilities and a future beyond school. That expectation changes everything. It sets the stage for her to move forward.
I’m proud to be a parent at IVDU. Tova is now in a great, frum school and a is part of our community. I’m truly grateful for that.

Specialized high

school programs

Whether your daughter chooses to attend a seminary, pursue a career, or lead an independent lifestyle, we give our girls the tools, skills, and self-assurance to meet every goal they set.

Regents and non-Regents tracks

Our dual-track curriculum allows each student to learn at the challenge level that’s right for her while meeting her academic goals.

Our Regents track prepares our students to take the core NYS Regents Examinations required for a high school diploma with high-quality, standards-aligned instruction. Our non-Regents track is designed to develop our students’ literacy, math, and world-knowledge skills with an emphasis on functional application, real-world learning, and individualized growth.

Career Training
High school students explore hands-on career paths through immersive, skill-based training in areas like graphic design, cake decorating, and professional organizing. Taught by experienced professionals, these courses build real-world skills that support a confident and independent adulthood.

Co-curriculars: Real-

world learning in action

IVDU's co-curriculars aren't extras—they're essential. Our electives and enrichment programs give our students space to stretch their skills, discover new strengths, and bring what they've learned into real world experiences. It's where growth gets hands on and confidence begins to shine.

Electives

From art to photography, podcasting, basketball, and ukulele, electives let our girls explore their strengths, discover new interests, and build lasting friendships.

Weekly assemblies

At Friday assemblies, each girl shares what she learned and what made her week meaningful, building confidence and communication skills along the way.

Big Sister-
Little Sister program

Upper school girls are paired with middle schoolers to form lasting bonds. Younger students gain role models, while older girls discover the power of mentorship.

Life Skills

Weekly classes teach self-advocacy, time management, and other practical tools to prepare students for life beyond the classroom.

Mainstreaming opportunities

Our girls participate in programs with peers from mainstream schools, helping them feel connected and included in the broader community.

Monthly middos program

Each month spotlights a new middah, introduced with breakouts and woven into lessons and activities that bring it to life for our students.

Special high school

co-curriculars

Shabbatons

A highlight of high school life, Shabbatons let students connect, grow, and be inspired in new settings, while allowing the girls to take the lead in planning and programming.

G.O.

Students run the show: planning events, building spirit, and learning how to lead, connect, and make an impact in and out of school.

School plays

From acting to backstage, students shine in professional productions, expressing creativity and building confidence in ways that extend beyond the classroom.

"I didn't expect it to be so good!"

Bracha's* story

My daughter has grown tremendously since joining IVDU! She's no longer falling through the cracks, and her needs are finally being met. Most importantly, she doesn't feel like a stigma; she just feels like one of the girls.
Besides personalizing the learning for Bracha, IVDU also helped deepen her appreciation for Yiddishkeit. The staff brings Yiddishkeit alive in a warm way, without making it feel like a burden. Bracha used to dislike davening because she struggled to read. At IVDU, they never forced it. Now she davens every morning not because she’s forced to, but because she wants to.
The staff really supports the girls. If there’s a problem, they don’t resort to discipline; they try to understand the girls and work with them. That out-of-the-box approach is part of the beauty of the school. I also love the career and practical life skills they teach. My daughter learned cookie decorating and even started doing it professionally, taking orders for simchos. It boosted her self-esteem and gave her a way to shine beyond academics.
What surprised me most about IVDU is that I didn’t expect it to be so good! I used to dread calls from my daughter’s past schools. But at IVDU, the calls are always positive, sharing something special she did or the exciting progress she is making. If anyone has similar struggles, I’d say: send her tomorrow! She’ll walk in, feel valued, and become a different person.

IVDU Girls School
Helping every student thrive—
in learning, life, and relationships

From forming strong friendships to developing emotional resilience, social-emotional development is the foundation of our students' success. Each student receives personalized, goal-driven therapies that align with her needs. And because real growth happens in real life, our therapists join students during everyday activities, reinforcing strategies at recess, lunch, and gym.

Tailored support for high school growth
Social skills classes +
Led by school social workers, small group We Thinkers classes help students build crucial relationship skills like communication, boundaries, and perspective-taking.
1:1 OT, PT, and Speech therapy +
1:1 therapy support helps our students grow in areas like emotional regulation, executive functioning, and coordination. These crucial skills help them successfully navigate their everyday lives.
1:1 BCBA support+
Our students work individually with our on-site behavior analyst, focusing on targeted goals like self-regulation, coping tools, and behavior planning, all customized to their needs.
Practical application+
Skills aren’t just taught. They are practiced and reinforced in real-time through embedded support across the school day, allowing our students to practice and generalize learning beyond the classroom.
Tailored support for Middle School growth

Our middle school students receive targeted support for their unique needs. Therapy programs focus on strengthening executive functioning skills such as self-awareness, problem-solving, organization, emotional control, and cognitive flexibility in order to create strong foundations for lifelong success.

Life Skills classes +
In our Life Skills classes, students develop healthy habits and routines for everyday life through playful, hands-on activities. Whether that’s washing a doll’s hair or preparing a simple meal using playdough, our girls build lifelong skills they can bring into each day.
Occupational therapy (OT) +
Our OT therapist helps students strengthen focus, motor control, balance, and fine motor skills through a mix of one-on-one and group sessions. These gains make a real difference, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Reflex integration: This helps students move past early developmental reflexes that may still be affecting their attention and coordination.
  • Neuromotor groups: In these groups, students do movement-based exercises like Brain Gym and balance work to build brain-body connection and improve sensory regulation.
  • Cardio drumming: With music, rhythm, and movement, this activity helps students improve focus and coordination. As they drum, step, and follow the beat, they build bilateral, motor, and sensory coordination skills that carry over into classroom tasks and everyday functioning.
  • Core strengthening & fine motor work: Our students build skills like sitting upright, writing, or buttoning a shirt through a mix of therapies such as yoga, therapy ball exercises, and hand-strengthening tools.
Speech & Language therapy +
Speech at IVDU goes well beyond vocabulary and sentence structure. We focus on helping students communicate better, think flexibly, and stay connected in social settings
  • Through social stories, games, and role-play, students learn how to navigate conversations, solve problems, and understand social cues.
  • The HearBuilder program helps students build better focus and listening skills, such as following directions and filtering distractions. These are tools they’ll use in the classroom, at home, and everywhere in between.
Social-emotional support & self-regulation +
These classes give our students core social-emotional tools, such as recognizing their feelings, asking for what they need, and handling challenges calmly.
  • A weekly self-regulation curriculum helps each child build a personal “toolbox” filled with calming strategies like breathing techniques, taking breaks, or using fidgets. Regular practice and reinforcement help them learn when and how to use their tools.
